Approaches to Devising
This workshop offers students a suite of innovative approaches to collaborative theatre-making. Students will develop skills in ensemble development, generating text, incorporating sound design, puppetry, developing motifs, utilising the architecture of space and importantly, building structure. Students will engage in playful and challenging exercises which will equip them with a vast array of practical tools, as well as new ways to consider the devising process itself.

Physical Theatre and Movement
Physical Theatre and Movement is an exploration of the pedagogies of Jacques Lecoq. This workshop will cover the core principles of this actor training philosophy, including body awareness and articulation, developing physicality as an ensemble, creating character and using rhythm, tension and fixed point to construct complete scenes. Students will learn the fundamentals of physical language and cultivate a greater sense of play and courage as physical performers.

Revealing the Clown
This workshop explores the world of clown and slapstick comedy. Students are guided through classic clown exercises which teach them to find their inner ridiculous self, listen to the audience, connect with their vulnerability, develop precision with timing and develop the courage to be in a “flop.” Founded on the teachings of Philippe Gaulier, the workshop invites students to take risks, develop sensitivity and reveal their unique sense of play. Students will create their own clown based & slapstick sequences for use in theatrical contexts, and hopefully discover a joy for this great and ancient artform.
